STORED PRODUCT PESTS
You should be the only one enjoying your food

Moths, Weevils & Beetles
They are sometimes known as ‘pantry bugs’ as they live in goods such as flour, cereals, rice, pasta, crackers, powdered foods and dried grains. They are very hard to spot and their eggs, being microscopic, are even harder to locate. They also contaminate more of these foods than they actually consume. These pests will usually get into your food at the warehouse, processing plant, during transportation (locally and from abroad), or in the store. Which is why it is crucial for all entities– from the processing plant to final customer – to take proactive action. These pests may not bite you, but who wants to eat and digest tiny weevils, beetles or moth eggs?
Stored Product Pest Prevention Tips
- Use older products before newer ones, opened packages before unopened packages.
- Inspect packages before buying.
- Store dried goods in tightly closed glass or plastic containers.
- Keep food storage areas clean.
- Throw away old used dried food containers.
- Thoroughly clean cracks and corners of storage cupboards.
